(Letterhead: CASA GENOTTA / SEA ISLAND / GEORGIA) Oct. 30th 1935 Dear Cyn: I have been waiting until we got back from New York to write and thank you for the pen present. I'm writing with it now and it's a dandy -- just the kind of point I wanted and did not have. And the signature on it was a delightful surprise! It was most kind and thoughtful of you to go to all that trouble to make the gift distinctive. I shall treasure it always as one of my dearest possessions. How is everything going with you? Fine, I hope. And when will you be able to come to us again? It will certainly be grand to see you again -- so don't make it too far off in the future! In the meantime, write me once in a while -- and be sure and let me know if there is ever anything I can do to help. I realize all you are going through now must be pretty tough and disillusioning in many ways -- and that it's the kind of thing that you must go through by yourself, in lonliness, where no one else can be of any real use -- but I want to say again that I am with you in spirit and cheering for you every minute! Our visit to New York was for me principally call on the dentist. Not so hilarious! I'm glad to be back home -- and expect to be hard at work again within a few days. Weather here fine and the ocean still warms enough to stay in all day if one wished to. Doesn't that tempt you? I sure wish you could be here to enjoy it with me! As always, much love to you! Gene |
