Jane Caldwell was the daughter of Myrtle Caldwell, a schoolmate of Carlotta's. She was hired to type O'Neill's work in the spring of 1944. A more than platonic relationship developed between Caldwell and O'Neill, which led to a showdown between O'Neill and Carlotta in August of 1945.
