Contour in Time
Bogard, Travis |
NOTES: Inscribed by Bogard. Atkinson # B35 |
The first significant study of O'Neill since the Sheaffer biography, but devoted to a study of the O'Neill canon rather than to the playwright's life. However, considerable discussion revolves around the biographical nature of the plays, culminating in Long Day's Journey, as well as the recurring themes. An important volume in that it represents the first comprehensive critical study of O'Neill's plays since such efforts as Long's study of nemesis in 1968 and Tiusanen's study of scenic images in the same year.—Miller |
